Sound performance at Sala Rossa // "Exceptions" by curator Eric Mattson

On April 26th 2013, the first night of "Exceptions" by Eric Mattson was presented at Sala Rossa. I played along Alexandre St-Onge and Raydmond Gervais. Pictures of my performance below. It was based on a live experiment based my recent sound installation "Motifs et moirés`that relies on digital loudspeakers and spatially-dependent psychoacoustics masking. Listeners must move arround the loudspeakers the hear the missing voice.

Thanks to Eric Mattson, Alexandre St-Onge, Raydmond Gervais, Sala Rossa, Tanya St-Pierre, Manon Labrecque, Oboro and Canada Art Council.

Philippe-Aubert Gauthier acknowledges the support of SODEC ("Artistes en arts visuel - Production d'oeuvres d'art").

Traduction de la classification des techniques de reproduction spatiale du son

Une traduction française de ma classification des techniques de reproduction spatiale du son est maintenant disponible :

http://matthieuberjon.com/155-reproduction-artificelle-du-caractere-naturel-de-l-ecoute-spatiale.html

New classification of spatial sound technologies

My classification of the spatial sound technologies (for reproduction) is now online:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/philippe_aubert_gauthier/spatial_sound.html

More details, explanations and examples are given for each type of technique. This classification was introduced in my Ph.D. thesis, in www.econtact.ca and in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.

In this new version, I discuss some points for which I have received critics over the years. I think that the classification survived these critics.
